On March 16, the United States witnessed another violent and racist act when Robert Aaron Long targeted multiple Atlanta-area spas and killed eight people—including six women of Asian descent. This egregious act is another unfortunate reminder that racism and violence continue to plague our society.
In the last year alone there have been at least 3,800 instances of discrimination against people of Asian and Pacific Islander descent across the United States. These acts of discrimination have ranged from physical assault, verbal assault and refusal of service. It must stop and we call upon our community to help with this change.
JETAADC stands with our friends, family and alumni of Asian descent and strongly condemn all forms of racism and systemic injustice that continue to plague the Asian American Pacific Islander community. These racist acts cannot—and will not—be tolerated. We will continue to oppose all forms of systematic racism and xenophobia and are determined to defend equity, diversity and inclusion for all communities
