Joshua Beatty
Mr. Beatty has worked in international education and exchange for more than 15 years, and currently serves as the Director of International Programs at Youth for Understanding. He has lived, studied, and worked in Japan for more than 5 years as an exchange student, CIR, and working for local NGOs. Mr. Beatty remains active in the DC-Japan community through participation in the Sakura Matsuri and as a JET application reviewer. He has a BA in Asian Studies as well as an MBA.
Jessica Burbach
Ms. Burbach is a leadership development coordinator for The Advisory Board Company, a healthcare consulting company. She was a high school JET in Shiga from 2011-2013. Prior to JET, she graduated from the University of Virginia with a double major in history and Spanish. She is on the JETAADC board as the Volunteer Chair and also processes and reviews JET applications. Jessica has also been a stage manager for the Pennsylvania Stage, the traditional arts stage at the Sakura Matsuri.
Curtis Chan
Mr. Chan is a government contractor for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in the U.S. Department of State. He was a JET participant in Yoshino in Nara Prefecture from 2006 to 2010. After leaving Japan, Curtis earned an MA in Applied Linguistics and continued to pursue his interest in education by joining the Office of English Language Programs in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs where he manages the English Language Fellow and Specialist programs.
Elizabeth Olchowski
Mrs. Olchowski was a CIR in Miyazaki-ken from 1993 to 1996. She currently is Assistant Dean for Graduate Program Management at the School of Public Policy, George Mason University. As an overseas studies adviser for Georgetown University, she sent students to Asia and Africa on study abroad programs (Kansai Gaidai, Keio, Nanzan, Sophia, and Waseda in Japan). She is a member of the JET Program Application Review Committee and has been interviewing JET applicants since 2000.
Nicole Uehara
Ms. Uehara was an ALT in Ehime Prefecture from 1999 to 2002, and is currently a Manager at Sojitz Corporation of America, a subsidiary of a Japanese general trading firm. She is also the director of the Center for Professional Exchange (CEPEX), a nonprofit organization focused on cultivating U.S.-Japan relations and the next generation of Japan experts. Ms. Uehara is a member of the Japan Commerce Association of Washington, DC (JCAW), JET Program Application Review Committee and JET Program Interview Committee. She earned a BSBA in International Marketing from American University and received an MBA from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
