The Sakura Matsuri Committee has been already working hard to put on the largest Japanese street festival in the United States.  Last year we had approximately 150,000 people enjoy Japanese performers, artisans, food and more.  This year Sakura Matsuri – Japanese Street Festival will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011.
The Sakura Matsuri Committee is made up of 60 Chairs and Sub-chairs on 16 different committees. We have all the committees filled with returning and new volunteers, except for one committee.  We are still looking for help with the Ginza Marketplace Committee.
If you have experience in event planning or like taking a managerial role, please contact me (Marc Hitzig) at mhitzig@us-japan.org for more information about the Ginza Committee.

If you are interested in volunteering and getting involved, but cannot commit the time to become a chair or sub-chair, we still need 600 people to help us on the day of the festival!  Please go to the Sakura Matsuri website to sign up as a Day-of volunteer.

This year again, the JET Alumni will be managing our Children’s Corner Tent at the festival.  You can sign up on-line for that as well.  Sarah, from the JET Office, will send out information about this at a later date.
