my japan: month one

posted in: Japan, JET, JETAADC | 2

Each month, my japan will feature themed photos submitted by current JET participants. In our first installment, we kept it simple — new JETs were asked to report back with one photo that represents their first month on JET.

Considering how small my school is (102 students), and how far out in the inaka it is, I was floored when I found out my school has a golf team (1 of only 3 public schools in Hyogo). Not only that, but my supervisor turned out to be the coach! I have played golf since I was in high school, so this was a great, easy opportunity for me to get involved with my students outside of school. In this picture, we are practicing in the field behind our school, seen in the background, and I am coaching students on their swings, giving them tips on how to strike the ball more consistently.
