DC Public Schools Beautification Day
Saturday, August 23, 9 AM – 1 PM

Join us as we help spruce up DC Public Schools. Tasks may include general cleaning, planting flowers, and painting exterior doors. For more details, check out the official website.

DC United vs New York Red Bulls

Save the date for a JETAADC group outing to watch DC United play the New York Red Bulls at RFK Stadium on August 31st at 2:30 PM. Join your JETAA DC pals in supporting our local soccer club, as well as Kosuke Kimura of the NY Red Bulls. Tickets will cost ~$30 and information regarding registration will be sent out at a later date.

Nen Daiko is hosting a 20th Anniversary Concert that will include performances by our honored guests, Soh Daiko (of New York Buddhist Temple), and Hoh Daiko (of Seabrook Buddhist Temple). Soh Daiko and Hoh Daiko helped initiate our training in the early days of our group, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to perform with them on stage in an expression of our thanks. JETAADC Member News

Kate Maruyama (Osaka, 2005-2008) and her husband, Ryoji, had a baby and bought their first home! Ryoji also got a job at the UMD data center.

Andrew Hill (Shimane, 2009-2011) began a new job at the Council on Foreign Relations on July 30. He is now the Japan Studies Research Associate under Dr. Sheila Smith.

Lauren Stockhausen (Fukui, 2006-2009) finished her masters in TESOL.

Joanna Blatchly (Shiga, 2009-2011) will attend American University’s Washington College of Law this fall.
